Dashain Celebration on October 1, 2011

Nepalese Soceity of Texas (NST) is organizing an event to celebrate the upcoming festival of Dashain amidst various cultural programs in Irving, Texas on Saturday, October 1, 2011.

Popular Nepali singers Sanjeev Pradhan and Sarishma Amatya will be performing at the event along with other local talents from DFW area.

DJ Masthan P will be doing the mixing for the event.

The celebration includes dinner with lots of traditional Nepalese cuisine.

NST invites everyone to attend the celebration at DFW Airport Hotel and enjoy the special family fun time.

Registration Open for NST Summer Camp 2011

Nepalese Society of Texas is organizing Summer Camp for Nepali kids for the fourth time from June 11, 2011 through June 22, 2011 at Nepali Community Center in Irving. Like previous years, this years program will focus on teaching kids more about Nepali culture, traditions, spiritual values and moral teachings with Guru Dr. Chintamani Yogi who will also be performing short training program on spirituality, meditation and natural treatment for adults during the evening sessions.

Summer Camp Registration Starts – First Come First Serve – Limited to 70-80 Children

Date: June 11-22, 2011
Venue: Nepali Community Center, 940 N Belt Line, Irving Center
Registration fee: $75 for 10 day program

The Summer Camp 2011 organizing committee has formally started accepting the application for 2011 Summer Cultural and Spiritual Camp. This year, we will organize the program at the Nepali Community Center. Unfortunately, because of the limited space, we are only in a position to accept maximum 70-80 students for the program. We will accept application on a first come – first serve basis.

Therefore, we sincerely request all parents/families to submit the application form to any member of the organizing committee ASAP and reserve space for your children. You can reserve your spot simply by downloading attached registration form and sending the registration form to us by email.

Nepalese Society of Texas (NST) organized a cultural event to celebrate the Nepali New Year 2068 with variety of cultural programs and fun activities on Sunday, April 10, 2011 in Euless. NST has been organizing Nepali New Year celebration every year since its inception on 1998 with the aim to promote social harmony among the Nepali community members living here in the state of Texas. This year’s event included fun activities and cultural presentation including sports, picnic, dances, concert, poem recitals and much more. The event lasted for nearly nine hours was attended by hundreds of people.

Nepal Bhasha Film “VINTUNA” in Dallas

TexasNepal is organizing Nepali Cultural Dress Photo and Video Shoot

TexasNepal.com is organizing a free photo/video shoot on Sunday, January 23, 2011 featuring Nepali National Dress – Daura Suruwal and Chaubandi Cholo at NST center in Irving.

The event is free and open to everyone and we would like to request interested Nepali community members to attend the event and help us document our cultural dresses. Please bring your own dress.

This project of documenting traditional ethnic Nepali dresses is aimed to educate everyone about our cultural dresses as well as promoting Visit Nepal Year 2011.

Photos and video shot at the event will be used to make a short documentary about our National dress and will be published on our website on the first week of February 2011.

We will be organizing more such events in coming months where we will be shooting photos and video featuring various other Nepali ethnic cultural dresses.

नेवा:कल्चर एसोसियसन अफ टेक्सासको अग्रतामा हरेक बर्ष जस्तै यस बर्ष पनि नेवारी भोज तथा सास्कृतिक कार्यक्रम हिजो अर्विङमा भब्यताका साथ सम्पन्न भयो । उक्त कार्यक्रममा लगभग ५५० भन्दा बढी जन समुदायको उपस्थिती थियो । यती धेरै जन समुदाय भेला भएर नेवारी भोज भएको यो पहिलो पल्ट हो सन्योजक अनिल मानन्धर भन्नु हुन्छ । ढिलो आउनु भएका अतिथिहरुलाई सबै खानाको परीकार पुर्याउन नसकेकोमा आयोजकलाई दुख: लागेको छ ।

कार्यक्रम पूर्णतया पारिवारिक बातावरणमा सम्पन्न भएको थियो । सास्कृतिक कार्यक्रममा त्रिपुर मानन्धरको सयोजनमा परम्परागत नेवारी लोक बजाले जन समुदायलाई कतै आफु काठमाडौंमै छैन भन्ने भान लागेको थियो । यस्तै अशिस्मा नकमी, अयुश्मा बज्रचार्य, शिल्विया मानन्धर तथा इशा घिमिरे को नेपाली तथा नेवारी लोक न्रित्य बडो रोचक तथा आकर्षक थियो । साथै नेवारी पोसाकमा सजिएर नेपालकै जसतै खानाका पारीकारहरु पुरनो परम्परा अनुरुप सघै साथमा भुइमै पलेटी कसेर भोज खाएको द्रिश्य अती रोचक थियो जस्ले यहाँ जन्मेर हुर्केका बच्चाहरुले पनि धेरै सिक्ने र देख्ने मौका पाएको थियो । नेपालमा सघियतको बहस भईरहेको अवस्थामा डलासमा यस्तो प्रकारको कार्यक्रमले हामी नेपाली जनता अनेकतामा एकताको परिचय दिएको थियो ।

Nepalese Society, Texas (NST) organized an event to celebrate the biggest Nepali festival, Dashain, amidst various cultural programs along with celebration of its 12th year of establishment on Sunday, October 10, 2010 at Irving Arts Center with participation of a huge crowd of around 700 people.

The event began with distributing certificates of appreciation to the founding members of NST along with other volunteers who have been part of NST’s activities. Then followed the cultural program with performances by popular Nepali artists like Sapana Shree, Yam Baral, Narayan Tripathi along with various local talents, dancing in traditional Nepali songs. The event was ended with drawing of the NST fund raising raffle.

Nepalese Society of Texas (NST) is organizing Dashain Party along with celebration of its 12th year of establishment on Sunday, October 10, 2010 amidst various programs at the Irving Arts Center.

According to an email from Manoj Sigdel, event coordinator of NST, the celebration will feature various popular singers and artists from Nepal like Sapana Shree, Yam Baral, Gopal Adhikari (Tito Satya), Anupama Prasain, Narayan Tripathi along with performances by local Nepali artists. Attendees will be served dinner as well which will end at 7:30 pm followed by cultural programs and performances by the various participating artists.

Teej Celebration 2009 in Euless, Texas

Nepalese Society of Texas (NST) is organizing a grand TEEJ Celebration Party at the Temptation Cuisine in Irving, Texas on Saturday, August 28, 2010 as part of its continued effort to promote the values of Nepali traditional festivals.

Teej is one of the most celebrated festivals of Hindu women in Nepal which is marked by fasting all day and worshiping Lord Shiva at the end of the day wishing for long life of one’s husband. Unmarried girls fast as well wishing to get married to a gentleman, someone they like.

The festival also symbolizes caring and joy among family members. Celebration include eating DAR (rice pudding), singing and dancing with women in red attire.

Youth Satsang Program in Irving with Guru Chinta Mani Yogi on June 19, 2010

Nepalese Society of Texas (NST) is organizing a Youth Satsang program with Guru Chinta Mani Yogi, who will be talking about how to live a meaningful and fulfilling life, aimed at Nepali youths living in and around DFW Metroplex.

Dr. Chinta Mani Yogi is a well-known scholar of Eastern philosophy, social worker and educationist. He is the founding principal of Hindu Vidya Peeth – Nepal, a non-profit school focused on promoting value-based education as well as helping children from poor families get education.

Dr. Yogi teaches yoga and meditation. He has been coming to Dallas every year since 2008 to conduct Summer Camp, organized annually by NST in coordination with Nepalese Cultural and Spiritual Center (NCSC), where he has been teaching Nepali kids from DFW area about Nepal, Nepali language, Nepali culture and traditional values, Eastern morale and more. He is in Dallas this year for the ongoing third Summer Camp which has been scheduled from June 13, 2010 till June 27, 2010.

Dr. Yogi’s message of non-violence, selfless service, tolerance and inter-religious harmony has inspired Nepalis both inside and outside the country. His past visits to the United States have proved to be very beneficial to many of us self-realization and self-awakening.

We request all Nepali youths living in DFW area to attend the event and benefit yourself from the spiritual discourse with Dr. Chinta Mani Yogi.

Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) is organizing its fourth Regional NRN Conference in Houston, Texas from May 28 to May 30, 2010 with various cultural activities, discussion on NRN issues, presentations, Nepal’s tourism promotion, poetry festival and more.

According to NRNA, these Regional Conference are being held in different region world wide on every other year. Brief History
Established in 2003, Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has a secretariat in Kathmandu with over 55 National Coordination Councils (NCCs) worldwide. NRNA has been advocating efforts of dual citizenship for NRNs in coordination with NCCs in over 55 countries. NRN National Coordination Council of USA coordinates with local organizations to promote and advocate NRN rights, and to channel their efforts for development of Nepal.

NST is participating
According to a recent email circulated via NST’s Google group newsletter, a group of representatives from DFW area will be participating at the conference on behalf of NST along with around ten performers.

Nepalese Society, Texas (NST) organized an event to celebrate Nepali New Year 2067 in Euless on April 25, 2010. The event that lasted for nine hours from 11am to 8pm saw a huge crowd of Nepalis gathered at the park in Euless and was full of fun activities like volleyball tournament, traditional Nepali dances, songs, poem recitals, musical chairs, tug-of-war and so on.

Nepalese Society Texas (NST) is organizing Nepali Sanskritik Sanjh, an evening with popular Nepali artists along with local talents on February 27, 2010 at the Calvary Church in Irving at 6:30PM.

The event will be an extravaganza with performances from popular Nepali comedian Manoj Gajurel, pop idol Om Bikram Bista and very talented dancer Anupama Prasai. There will be several local talents, from DFW area, performing at the event.

Swearing-In and Handover ceremony of the new NST Executive Committee

Nepalese Society Texas organized swearing-in of oath and handover ceremony of the newly elected executive members at Nepali Community Center in Irving, Texas on November 15, 2009.

The program started with welcome speech by the outgoing general secretary Janak Rana followed by handing out of volunteer-of-the-year certificates to actively participating DFW Nepali community members. Others gave short speeches about Nepali community in DFW and the role of NST for the community.

Pratyasit Shrestha and his team (DFWTeens) donated $150 to Nepali Math School, which was part of the money their team had collected from Deusi program earlier this year.

Pasang Lama spoke about the election, the controvesy that arose regarding participation of Bhutanese-Nepalis in the election and finally wished new committee to work their best towards the benefit of Nepalis living in DFW.

The new elected committee members were awarded with certificates and the swearing in of oath was conducted by Baikuntha Thapa, member of the 2009 NST election committee.

Prem Adhikari, the new president of NST thanked everybody and talked about how he plans to work in team with the new committee along with with other volunteers towards making a difference for the DFW Nepali community.

The event ended with speech from outgoing NST president Ram Pokhrel who talked about the ups and downs he faced during his tenure and encouraged the new committee to work from their heart and never to give up.

Dashain Celebration in Irving on Sunday, September 27

NST is organizing “Dashain Sanjh” – a celebration on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami, with cultural programs from local artists along with special performance by Deepak Bajracharya.

The program will be held at Ramada Hotel in Irving on September 27 which is a Sunday. Program highlights include Durga Puja, Nepali traditional dances, performance by local Nepali artists as well as by popular Nepali pop singer Deepak Bajracharya. Program starts at 6pm and everybody is invited. Details are below:
