A child died after drowning in Jhingu rivulet at Panchkhal Municipality in Kavre district on Tuesday (May 31, 2016).
According to the District Police Office, Dhulikhel, the deceased has been identified as Ashish Kafle, 11. The incident took place while Ashish was swimming.
The heavy downpour on Tuesday evening has flooded the roods around the area, obstructing the Araniko highway at the same time.
Police Inspector at the Traffic Police Office, Sukdev Khanal, said that some houses at Banepa-5 have been inundated following heavy rainfall.
In other news, according to a local, the stores of gas companies Surya Gas and and Sagar Gas were also flooded with the rainwater which swept away about 2500 gas cylinders. One has gone missing in an attempt of fetching a swept away cylinder.
