Little drops of water make the mighty ocean. This has turned out to be true in Dhankuta where one rupee donation collected from every individual for an old age home has amounted to Rs 5.7 million so far, clearly a sign of patience and determination.

The donation campaign was started by Bisranti Geriatric Home Management Committee three years ago with the aim of collecting Rs 10 million within five years to set up a permanent fund for the management of geriatric home.

Around 25,000 people have been donating Re 1 per day for the establishment of a permanent fund for the organisation. Donors can either deposit one-time Rs 1,525 or Re 1 daily for five years in the account opened for old age home at Rastriya Banijya Bank (RBB) and Kabeli Development Bank in Dhankuta.

Kabeli Bank itself has also been contributing to the campaign by depositing five rupees in the fund for every new account opened in the bank.

Around 35 elderly have been living in the geriatric home now. The home has been getting support in both cash and kind from local businessmen.
