Speaking at the inauguration program, Indian Prime Minister Modi said that the center, which was constructed some five years ago with Indian assistance in Kathmandu, is a symbol of the time-tested Indo-Nepal friendship. PM Modi described it as a gift for life which will remain like a lively monument of the relations between the two countries.

PM Modi also expressed commitment to provide training for human resources and continued support in other forms until the Nepal government is ready to take full ownership of the center.

Once it comes into operation, the center is set to provide complex, multi-disciplinary treatment, including neurosurgery and orthopedic surgery, in order to give victims the best possible chance of survival and recovery.

Minister for Health and Population Khaga Raj Adhikari said that Nepal is ready to run the center. He informed that the center will begin operation with 50 beds.

The MoHP said that the 200-bed center will come into full-fledged operation once the Indian side instals all equipments. The MoHP has already hired consultant neurosurgeon, orthopedic, anesthetist, radiologist and pathologist from Bir Hospital for the center.
