Nepal Wins 7 Medals In Int’l Open Taekwondo Championship

Nepal bagged seven medals in the 10th International Open Friendship Taekwondo Championship. The tournament was held from July 26 to 27, 2014 in the UK where Nepali players clinched one gold and three silver and bronze medals each.

As informed by team coach Ashok Khadka, Amita Rai claimed a gold medal in Poomsae and a silver medal in Women’s U-46 kg category. Coach Khadka had also competed in the Cham

pionship and eventually earned a silver medal in Poomsae.

Similarly, Arjun Sunuwar added another silver medal in Poomsae while Rohit Tamang (U-68 kg), Sarita Shrestha (U-46 kg) and Manoj Lama (U-58 kg) won a bronze medal each.

Around 400 players from various countries took part in the tournament. There were altogether eight players from Nepal competing in the senior level during the Championship.
