It’s a moment of pride for us once again as Pushpa Basnet has made it as one of the top 10 CNN Heroes of 2012.
Basnet is one of the 10 everyday people who will receive $50,000 and a chance for much more for their extraordinary efforts to help change the world and better the lives of others. Her nomination for the honour was announced in March. Click here for the previous article.
Shocked to learn that children in Nepal were living in prisons with their parents, Basnet started a children’s center that has been providing housing, education and medical care to more than 140 children of incarcerated parents since 2005. Her dream is to build a home for these children and to rescue more children who are still in prisons.
She deserves respect and much more for her selfless drive towards the cause. So let us all vote for her to fulfill her dreams and ultimately help build a better Nepal as a whole.
Voting continues until Wednesday, November 28, 2012. The CNN Hero of the Year will be revealed, Sunday, Dec. 2 — LIVE – during “CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute”.
