Model Asmee Shrestha was crowned Miss Nepal 2016 last Friday (April 8, 2016) amidst a grand event held at Hotel Annapurna.

Shrestha beat the other 18 finalists to win the 21st edition of the beauty contest organised by The Hidden Treasure. Miss Nepal 2015 Evana Manandhar passed down the coveted crown to Shrestha.

Roshani Khatri became the first runner-up and was crowned Miss Nepal Earth 2016 at the event. Similarly, Barsha Lekhi was crowned Miss Nepal International 2016 after being announced as the second runner-up.

The three were able to surpass the final round after impressing the judges with their respective answers to the question: Do you agree with quota reservation for women? Is it good, bad and you do not have any reservation? The contestants were required to write down the answer on a paper in a given time, which was later read out.

Shrestha will be representing Nepal in the Miss World 2016 while the first and second runners-up will represent the country in Miss Earth and Miss International 2016.
