The partial impact of the closure saw less transportation movement with only few public vehicles and fairly more private vehicles plying in the roads of Kathmandu district.

Nonetheless, the shutdown has mostly affected Bhaktapur as vehicular movements in the district have been halted since the morning.

The Committee announced the strike accusing the concerned authorities of working against the Supreme Court’s order, making the people homeless. Land and house owners have demanded compensation of their property that were demolished for the road-widening project in Kathmandu as well as for the relocation of those affected by it.

Similarly, the Committee has also asked the government to implement laws ensured by the Constitution and protect the human rights of the indigenous communities and locals assured by various declarations including Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948).
