The Election Commission (EC) has said that 70 percent votes have been cast during the Constituent Assembly election held on Tuesday, November 19, 2013.

Amid a press meet, Chief Election Commissioner Nil Kantha Uprety on Tuesday evening told that the voters took part enthusiastically in the election despite some unpleasant incidents.

Uprety told the election was held in a free, fair and peaceful manner except a few untoward incidents stating that the credit goes to parties, civil servants, social activists, international community, international/national poll observers, and the media to make it a grand success.

“This second CA election remained historic with the highest turnout of voters,” Uprety added. CEC Uprety went on to say that the election process continues until the vote counting come to an end.

“There are still a few challenges until the country witnesses the final outcome,” he said.

Uprety said that the election process at Thabang-based polling station would be conducted shortly, where Tuesday’s election could not take place due to absence of voters.

As reported earlier, a group of CPN-Maoist leaders led by General Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa restrained the voters not to take part in the voting warning of bloodshed ahead if the poll held.
