Conservationist Yonzon’s final rites today

Well-Known conservationist Dr. Prahlad Yonzon was killed in a road accident in Kathmandu on Monday.His dead body has been shifted from Birendra Police Hospital, Maharajgunj to his office in Sanepa for visitors to pay their final condolences between 2 pm to 5 pm today. Yonzon’s final rites is to be performed at Pashupatinath, Aryaghat today.

The founder of Resources Himalaya, Dr. Yonzon was seriously injured after being hit by a truck in front of the Controller of Examinations in Balkhu while cycling back home and died while undergoing treatment at Kathmandu Hospital in Teku the same evening.

Late Yonzon was one of South Asia’s top field zoologists and completed PhD from the University of Maine in the US.Resources Himalaya is an NGO working in the field of biodiversity conservation in Nepal, India and Bhutan.

He was the first zoologist to study red panda of Nepal and first person to claim that Bengal Tiger can live in high altitude. He spotted tiger 3000m above sea level.

Yonzon has also received the national award from National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST).
