CPN-Maoist Nationwide Bandh Affects Daily Life

The nationwide bandh enforced by CPN-Maoist hampered normal life all across the country, including the Kathmandu Valley, on Tuesday (February 19). The closure was imposed in protest of the main political parties’ decision to form a poll government under the leadership of sitting chief justice.

The party called today´s banda also to press for the release of its cadres held on charge of killing Dailekh-based journalist Dekendra Thapa some eight years ago. Transportation came to a standstill and marketplaces, academic institutions and businesses all remained closed in the capital.

Due to the banndh, office goers as well as general commuters faced difficulty reaching their destinations. Meanwhile, two vehicles each belonging to Kantipur Television and Sagarmatha Television were vandalized by the bandh organizers in Kathmandu. Similarly, more vehicles were vandalized outside the Valley as well.
