Double Loss For Nepal

Today, December 9th, is indeed a sad day for Nepalese sports lovers as the national teams for both football and cricket failed to win the matches against Afghanistan.

Afghanistan swept into the finals of SAFF Championship Football with a 1-0 victory against Nepal at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi. Balal Arejo of Afghanistan scored the decisive goal in the extra time as the regular time concluded goalless draw. Afghanistan will now face India in the final which defeated Maldives with a 3-1 score earlier today.

On the other hand, Nepal was crashed out of the ongoing ACC Twenty-20 Cup after losing its semifinal match by nine wickets at the TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur.

Nepal had posted a target of a mere 69-runs against Afghanistan for the loss of nine wickets. Afghanistan exceeded the 69-run target in 9.2 overs at the loss of one wicket.

Winning the toss, Nepal had batted first against Afghanistan at the home ground this morning.

Despite the double loss, it was good to see positive and encouraging posts by Nepali supporters on social networking sites. Regardless of the result of the matches, they are proud of their national players for their admirable effort.
