Fundraiser by AFH:DFW for water, sanitation and education improvements in Nepal

AFH:DFW, the local chapter of Architecture for Humanity, is hosting a fundraising event for water, sanitation, and education improvements in five villages in Nepal on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Indreni Nepali Cultural Center in Irving.

The event will have dancers, a silent auction, music, snacks, a debut of the documentary “The Mountain Between Us” about two girls living in Nepal.

Project Details

Architecture for Humanity : DFW, along with 5 other AFH chapters are collaborating with Edge of Seven on the Solukhumbu Development Project to provide funding for several improvements to water, sanitation and schools in the Solukhumbu District of Nepal:

– Water and Sanitation improvements to the village of Purdu and Taksindu

– A two-room addition to a lower secondary school in the village of Phuleli

– A four-room addition and new sanitation facility to a higher secondary school in the village of Basa

– A new primary school campus with working toilets and fresh water supply in Chiwang

– Environmental and sanitation improvements using a pilot biogas toilet system harnessing gas produce by fermentation of organic matter for cooking fuel and electricity

Join as us we celebrate the culture of Nepal through traditional dance, music, silent auction of photographs and paintings, and the debut of the documentary “The Mountain Between Us”. Your donation, participation, and support will help provide the funding needed to initiate these improvements, and ulitmately pave the way for a sustainable future for Nepal.
