‘Gyanapu Style’ At Miss Newa Talent Contest

All the contestants of Miss Newa 1133 were graceful and energetic on the stage  and gave their best performance for a chance to win the title crown of Miss Talent at Miss Newa. The event took place on January 5 at 1999 A,.D. Banquet, Gwarko amidst their parents, guardians and friends continued to cheer the participants on.
The contestants showcased their talent in front of seven jury members. The panel included Nirnaya Shrestha (rapper), Bhuwan Maharjan (social worker), Jeebeshwor Lal Shrestha (Vice Principal of Namuna Fashion and Technology), Amarjyoti Ranjit (Nepal Overseas Trading Company, Marketing Executive) Ujjwal Krishna Shrestha ( President of Nepal Boutique Association), Raj Shakya (Film Director), and Alika Tamrakar (Woman Entrepreneur). The event was hosted by Miss Newa 2011 Sunita Dongol.
Music seemed to be a subject of interest for the talented contestants. Two of them played violin while one played sitar. A participant also played flute along with kin (Newari music instrument). Some gave speech on different topics ranging from lifestyle of Newari women to brain drain. One of them acted out the condition of women in the society. However, there were many dance performances in different Newari songs-. ‘Sirsaye Hegu’, ‘Chhi Bhaju’, and ‘A Daicha’ to name a few. But the biggest highlight among others was the comical dance performance by Yamika Maharjan who presented ‘Gyanapu Style’, the Newari version of world famous Korean smash hit ‘Gangnam Style’ by Psy.
Organised by Nepalese Fashion Home, the grand finale of the 8th Miss Newa 1133 is going to be held at Nepal Academy on January 14, 1st Magh. Profiles of the participants will be uploaded on the site soon enough.
