Honouring Through The Work of Art

Following the footsteps of Madam Tussauds Wax Museum is Trimurti Arts Samuha (TAS)! TAS is honoring renowned personalities of the country for their immense contribution to their respective fields by making their clay sculptures. The group is doing so on the auspicious occasion of Indra Jatra and to celebrate Nepal Tourism Year 2011.

TAS has already made statues of lyricist/poet Durga Lal Shrestha and literary figure Satya Mohan Joshi. And now the next respected public figure on the list happens to be Pushkar Lal Shrestha.

Shrestha, the Chairman of Kamana News Publications Pvt. Ltd., was honoured on Sunday, 4th Sept with his clay sculpture. He was paid tribute for his significant role in Nepali journalism.  The Editor-in-Chief of publications such as Nepal Samacharpatra, Kamana, and Sadhana, has been contributing to the field ever since he founded Kamana Group in 1984.

Shrestha’s live clay replica was carved at Kasthamandap Durbar Square and it took seven hours for three craftsmen to complete.

Shrestha’s son Direk is the CEO/ Managing Editor of Nepal Samacharpatra as well as the drummer of the award winning band The Vibez.

TAS, which specializes in making clay arts, sculpture, statue and paintings, usually conduct the crafting at cultural public places such as Durbar Squares, and plan to display their clay work at the National Museum of Nepal for youth to see and get inspired from.
