Kalikot Landslide Kills Four, Three Gone Missing

The landslide that hit Lalighat Bazaar of Kotwada-6 in Kalikot on early Friday (May 20, 2016) have killed three people so far and five others have gone missing. Triggered by a heavy rain on Thursday night, the calamity swept away over 20 houses of the Lalighat Bazaar. According to police only three among those buried in the landslide have been identified. A search rescue work for those missing is underway. According to DSP Kishan Singh Budal eight people are injured in the monsoon-induced disaster.

The deceased have been identified as Dhanamati Tamata of Syna-2, Hira Tiruwa of Syna-5 and Laxman Bhandari of Dhaulagoha and Srista Bam, six year old daughter of Takka Bam of Thirpu VDC-5 as informed by Police Inspector Tek Jora. Those missing are Sanjite Tamata, 50, of Syuna-2, Mani Subedi, 50 of Raku-2 and Aja Sarki’s four-month-old son of Bajura Gotri-1.
