M&S INSPIRE: Compassion in Action – Shila Thapa

Shila Thapa, once a homemaker, currently works with individuals with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities. Credited with being the first person in Nepal to advocate about the disorder, Thapa is the Founder President of Down Syndrome Society Nepal (DSSN). Thapa describes her past self as a happy-go-lucky person who was content being a homemaker. This was until she had her second child, Satyam, in 2002. In this conversation with Alok Thapa of M&S VMAG, the social changemaker, who also runs the Satyam Day Care Centre, talks about how no one is born fully formed–that it’s only through our experiences that we become who we are.
