Nepali Artists Performing At Royal Albert Hall For Quake Survivors

help nepalThe Help Nepal Network (HeNN) is organising its first-ever musical concert in aid of the earthquake survivors of Gorkha. An Evening For Gorkha will be held at the Royal Albert Hall, London on 28 June 2015, Sunday.

As mentioned on the website of the non-profit organisation, a handful of veteran and well-known Nepali singers including Deep Shrestha, Om Bikram Bista, Yogeshwor Amatya, Dipak Thapa Magar, Jems Pradhan, Sujil Karmacharya and Trishna Gurung will perform at the concert while renowned media personality Bhushan Dahal is said to host the show.

Currently based in London, singer Yogeshwor Amatya has been quoted saying, “This is a matter of great pride for all of us that a Nepali musical group will be performing at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall. We look forward to perform in front of the Nepalese audience in the UK for a great humanitarian cause.

Gorkha was the epicentre of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Nepal on 25th of April 2015. More than 8,000 people have died and thousands of others have been injured. Over 500,000 homes including schools and health centers have been destroyed due to the earthquake.

“After deducting the expenses, all the proceeds from the Concert to Gorkha district and help in rebuilding of schools, health centers etc after consulting local communities,” said Dr Pranab Gyawali, chair of the Help Nepal Network UK chapter.
