Officer indicted of selling passport to Afghans arrested

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police on Wednesday arrested Bachchuram K.C., then Nayab Subba (non-gazetted officer) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who was on the run since July 24, 2011 though a case was filed against him for selling Nepali passport to Afghan nationals and misusing travel documents.

A team of CIB personnel deployed from the police headquarters held the 38-year-old from Hanumansthan downtown Kathmandu.

A permanent resident of Taudaha, Kirtipur Municipality on the outskirts of Kathmandu was arrested on January 10, 2010 on charge of faking the government seal. A case against him is still pending at the Kathmandu District Court.

He faces the charge of providing Nepali passport to five Afghans.

KC has been handed over to Metropolitan Police Sector, Hanuman Dhoka for further investigation in the case.
