PM Koirala Meets Newly Elected Indian PM Modi

Prime Minister Sushil Koirala met with the newly elected Indian counterpart Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Tuesday (May 27, 2014) as reported by The Times of India.

Modi reportedly expressed his willingness to visit Nepal in the meeting and in turn, PM Koirala asked Modi to visit Nepal prior to SAARC Summit to be held in November.

Koirala further said Nepal has put constitution writing at high priority and then economic development, expecting Indian assistance to this effect.

Modi said that India wants to see Nepal to have come up with new constitution on time, expressing commitment that it will fully help Nepal for democratic constitution, political stability and development.

Prime Minister Koirala, who is in Delhi to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the Indian Prime Minister, will call on Indian President Pranab Mukherjee at the Rastrapati Bhawan today afternoon.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to hold meetings with Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif, President of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa and President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai.

Similarly, the Prime Minister will be meeting with Indian National Congress Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and President of Bharatiya Janata Party and Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
