Senior Actor Bishnu Bhakta Phuyal Dies After Collapse on Stage During Play

Veteran actor Bishnu Bhakta Phuyal is no more.  The well known theater, television and film artist died after collapsing on stage while acting on a play on Tuesday (January 3, 2017). He  was playing the role of King Janak on Maharshi Yagyabalkya, written by Satya Mohan Joshi and directed by Badri Adhikari, at Rastriya Nachghar, Jamal.

 

As told by fellow cast member Bimba Adhikari, Phuyal appeared to be feeling uncomfortable at the beginning of the second scene when he collapsed on stage and was rushed to Bir hospital where he was eventually pronounced dead as he was undergoing treatment.

According to Dr Bhupendra Kumar Basnet, director at Bir Hospital, Phuyal had suffered a stroke and died of multiple organ failure.
