Six dead, over 12 hurt in bus-micro bus collision

Six persons were killed and more than a dozen others injured in a micro bus-passenger bus collision in Madhesa-4 of Sunsari district Monday morning.

Those killed have been identified as Bir Bahadur Katuwal, 60, and Raliya Malik, 40, of Madhesa-4, Dambar Kumari Karki, 45, and Ratna Bahadur Bista, 55, of Madhesa-5 and the microbus driver Durga Karki of Bhojpur. The identity of the sixth is yet to be established.

The injured have been rushed to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, Neuro Hospital, Biratnagar, and the district hospital, Inaruwa for treatment.

Of the injured, Gita Karki and Manamaya Katuwal of Madhesa-5 and Raj Kumar Marik of Inaruwa are said to be in critical condition.

The mishap happened after the micro bus (Ko 1 Ja 930), en route to Ghaighat from Biratnagar, collided with the bus (Na 3 Kha 3141) heading to Itahari from Inaruwa, at around 9 am.
