SLC Exams Kick Off Today

One of the most talked about national level examinations, School Leaving Certificate (SLC) exams have kicked off from today (March 14, 2013).  A total of 5,47,165 students are appearing in this year´s test,  out of which 4,30,097 are regular and 1,17,068 exempted, as informed by the Office of the Controller of Examination (OCE).

1,786 exam centers have been set up across the country. According to the District Education Officers (DEO) of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur, 139 exam centers have been set up in the Kathmandu Valley for 49948 students.

Kathmandu has the highest number of exam centers at 86, where 34,104 students, including 1474 exempted, are appearing, said Kathmandu DEO Baikuntha Aryal.

As per the SLC regulation directive, as many as 344 students face disqualification this year following their dual registration at two separate schools. The OCE had fixed the deadline for correction until Wednesday.

Similarly, the students who failed to register 70 percent attendance in the school would be disqualified from the exam as per the recommendation of the DEO.

Meanwhile, the temporary teachers have decided to boycott the SLC exam across the country. Exam Controller Khaga Raj Baral said that the temporary teachers´ protest would not affect the exams.
