The government has introduced the provision of selling the cigarette and tobacco products at separate stores from March 14, 2017 to regulate and control the use of such products. The proposal is approved after five years of the Tobacco Product (Control and Regulatory) Act 2011.

ince 1991, the population of the country has recorded an increase by 35 per cent compared to the increase in public workforce that has increased only by 3 per cent during the same period. According to the Nepal Health Sector Programme-Implementation Plan II (NHSP-IP, 2010-2015), approximately 25 per cent of the total health workforce is unskilled.
