The Biggest Event For Nepali Sports Fraternity

Nepal Sports Journalists Forum’s (NSJF) effort to provide recognition and encouragement to the remarkable sports personalities of the country, the annual Pulsar Sports Award for this year is being held on September 11 in the capital.

This edition of the Sports Award consists of eight categories including Pulsar Best Player Of The Year Male, Best Player Of The Year Female, Youth Player Of The Year, Coach Of The Year, Para Athlete Of The Year, Lifetime Achievement Award and Popular Player Of The Year.

Nepal National team defender Rohit Chand, who’s been on a spectacle of the international football scene lately, has been nominated for the Best Player Of The Year award. And competing with Chand for the esteemed title are Rahul Kumar Biswokarma (Cricket), Deepak Maharjan (Boxing), Bilam Lal Shrestha (Chess), and Shyam Shrestha (Body Building).

While the nomination for the female category sees Nepal National Football women’s team captain Jamuna Gurung, striker Anu Lama, Aslesha Lisanovic (Lawn Tennis), Manita Shahi (Taekwondo), and Kanchimaya Koju (Athletics) contending for the award.

Cricketers Prithu Baskota, Sarita Magar and Nary Thapa, Anish Shrestha of Table Tennis and Phupu Lhamu Khatri of Judo will be competing for the Youth Player of the Year title, an award for players below 21 years.

Cricket experts Jagat Tamata and Shyamson Jung Thapa along with Football’s Dhruba KC, Boxing’s Prachanda Sharma and Gyanendra Nakarmi of Bodybuilding will be on for the Coach of the Year award.

The nominees for the Popular Player Of The Year are national football team skipper Sagar Thapa, Shreya Dhital (Swimming), Deepak Maharjan (Boxing), Sipora Gurung (Volleyball) and cricketer Rahul Biswakarma. Winner of this category will be chosen through SMS voting from public.

The winners of Best Male and Female Player Of The Year will be awarded with a Pulsar motorbike each while winners of other categories will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 30,000 along with gifts and trophies.

The Player Selection Committee consists of Binod Pandey, Himesh Bajracharya, Prajeet Shakya and Ujjwal Acharya.
