Two Nepali guards killed in a suicide attack in Afghanistan

August 19, 2011 – Two Nepali security guards were killed today in a suicide attack at the British Council building in the Afghan Capital.

Six militants attacked the British Council leaving nine dead, on the day Afghans were celebrating their Independence from Britain in 1919.

According to the reports two suicide bombers detonated their bomb-laden car in front of a gate to the British Council thus letting others attacker inside the building. Four militants fought against the Afghan police and the international forces from inside the building for at least eight hours.

The Nepali guards were protecting the council along with other local Afghan guards.

A US military official who was at the scene advising the Afghan national police was quoted saying, ““The Gurkhas put up a good fight, and they were able to push the attack back.”
