Two Nepalis in BBC’s 100 Women 2014

Last year, BBC started the initiated a pledge to represent women better in its international news output with the 100 Women season.

This year, the series returns with a list that has more scientists and more women working in the arts. And it is indeed a proud moment to see the names of two Nepali women in the listing! Yes, Darshan Karki, the Opinion-piece editor at The Kathmandu Post daily and Jaya Luintel, a journalist and women’s rights advocate have both made it to the list. Congratulations to the ladies on their remarkable performance.

With more than a fifth of participants under the age of 25, these are not only women to take notice of now, but ones to watch in the future, too.
