Earthquake Hits Western Nepal

Magnitude 5.0 moderate earthquake shook western Nepal today at 10:15pm as reported by the U.S. Geological Survey. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake’s epicenter was located  128 km WNW from Pokhara. It was 23.8 miles deep.

Tremor was felt as far as Pokhara, Baglung and capital Kathmandu which lies 272 km far from epicenter. The shallow depth of 24 miles cause it to be felt in vast area. The epicenter is very close to Thawang. Fortunately, the populated area is far from it.

There have been no immediate reports of damage or injuries so far.
