In the end, everything worked out in favour of director Manoj Pandit. Fearing it would disrupt the peace process, the Nepal Army had imposed a ban on the movie Badhshala. But after going through some more evaluations, the film has finally been allowed to be released. Censor board has certified it under ‘PG’ category. It has now been scheduled for released on April 19 (Baisakh 6).
Pandit, who was even ready to head to the Supreme Court, had even approached former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai with issue related Badshala’s band. However, although it’s been quite late, he believes he has received justice.
Badhshala is based on the events that occurred during the armed conflict between the Royal Nepal Army and prisoners at Bhairav Gana. Starring Anup Baral, Arpan Thapa, Saugat Malla, Dayahang Rai, Sarita Giri and Khagendra Lamichhane among others, the movie has already been screened in the UK and Australia and has been received well by the moviegoers.
