Deepak Ratna Bajracharya’s Baisakh 12 Photo Wins ‘Photo of the Year’

Deepak Ratna Bajracharya has become the big winner at the IME-Global IME Nepal Photo Contest organised by the Photojournalist Club. He won the title of ‘Photo of the Year’ as part of it and as a result, he would receive Rs 100,000 as cash prize.

Bajracharya was able to capture a very haunting moment during the earthquake on April 25, 2015 in his award-winning photograph.

The organisers said the picture was selected from 6,670 photographs filed for the competition. The panel of judges comprised of senior photographers Prashanta Panjiyar and Mani Lama, senior curator Sangita Thapa, academician Sujan Chitrakar, senior photojournalists Devendra Man Singh, Narendra Shrestha and Prakash Mathema.

Winners of various seven categories of the annual photo contest were announced at a special function held on July 29, 2016. The photographers who stood first, second and third positions in each category would get a purse of Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.

The winning photographs of all categories are said to be exhibited in Kathmandu, Biratnagar, Dharan, Sauraha, Bhairahawa, Pokhara, Nepalgunj and Dhangadhi.
