Maoists Call Bandh in Kathmandu, Gorkha And Chitwan

UCPN (Maoist) has announced bandh in the three districts – Kathmandu Valley, Chitwan and Gorkha – protesting the arrest of their cadre Ram Prasad Adhikari in connection with the murder of Krishna Prasad Adhikari of Fujel, Gorkha on Saturday (August 7, 2013).

The Maoist cadres have taken to the street and shut down market places and transportation in the districts demanding the release of Adhikari, it is learnt.

Murder accused Ahikari was arrested from Dilli Bazaar in Kathmandu on Friday evening.

The UCPN (Maoist) had called bandh in Kathmadu, Chitwan and Gorkha following the arrest their cadre Adhikari.

Demanding arrest of murder accused Ram Prasad Adhikari, Krishna Prasad’s parents Nanda Lal and Gangamaya have been staging a fast-unto-death for over a month. Their health condition is deteriorating.

They have vowed not to stop their protest program until and unless the killer of their son is brought to justice.

The bandh beginning early Saturday morning has seriously shattered the hopes of women who are moving out and inside of the districts to celebrate Haritalika Teej festival.
